A Yoga lock Holds All the Secrets Post
What a simple prop taught me about support, surrender, and the strength that comes from asking for help.
Today in my yoga class, my teacher was talking about the stigma around using blocks. When she explained it, she said, “sometimes using support helps us access things we couldn’t before.”
That phrase really struck a chord with me. It highlights why I do the work that I do. Why I practice what I preach and feel comfortable raising my hand to say, “I need help.”
It’s easy to go through life on a solo mission. To be the person who feels responsible for everything. The one who does it all. The one who puts everyone and everything ahead of their own needs. All. The. Time. The one with the never-ending to-do list.
But what if we paused and asked for help?
Taking a pause, taking a step back, can actually help us leap forward. It is not laziness, and it’s not giving up.
It gives us space to get to the root of not just what’s happening, but why it’s happening.
Sometimes, when we are in the thick of things, we get overwhelmed with the number of tasks we create for ourselves. We hyper-focus on everything that needs to get done and the fact that we don’t have enough time to do it.
And this is where the anxiety comes in, and one of two things happens.
That’s what I do for my clients. I’m the support they can lean on to go further. To access resources and tools they didn’t even know were there.
We turn into a whirlwind of constant movement. From morning to night, we are chasing productivity and checking boxes. We tune out the gentle voices that whisper, “Time for lunch,” “Take a breath,” “Drink some water,” and only listen to the one that says, “You have to get this done, or you’re a failure.” We run on coffee, skip meals, and pull away from others. We get snippy, disconnected, and isolated inside our own minds.
OR
We feel stuck and unsure where to start, so we don’t start at all.
We avoid the list, ignore the call, and convince ourselves we’ll do it later.
We listen to the voice that says, “You’re not good enough to get this done, so why even try?”
Both of these states, the frantic doer and the frozen avoider, are just two sides of the same thing: disconnection.
But there is another way, and sometimes it’s just leaning on a bit of support to get there. Someone to tap you on the shoulder to help you let go of the list and pop your head up.
That’s what I do for my clients. I’m the block they can lean on — the support that helps them reach further. I help them access the parts of themselves they’ve buried under the weight of responsibility, fear, or fatigue.
This type of support isn’t a crutch. It’s a bridge. It helps us reconnect to what’s already inside us.
Together, we dig deep into the root of the body and mind. With NLP and Reiki, we identify the blocks, unmask them, and rewire them into something that benefits us. We uncover the tools already inside that we might have forgotten, or discover new, updated tools that can serve them better at this time.
