Why I don't believe in fate.

How to build an intention mindset

Have you ever thought about someone, only for them to call moments later? Or maybe you were looking for a new yoga studio, and one popped up in conversation as if by magic. Moments like these may feel like coincidences, but what if they’re something more? These are signs of the universe responding to your intention.

Let’s dive into intention. It’s more than a goal; it’s a specific, powerful aim that, when focused, can invite endless opportunities into our lives. When we set clear intentions, life can feel as though it’s naturally falling into place. You may even know someone who effortlessly seems to get exactly what they want. They’re likely tapped into the power of intention.

So, how can you harness this same energy? Here’s the process:

Building Intention

Step 1: Stay Positive

Aligning your mindset with positive outcomes is key. When we focus on what we do want (instead of what we don’t), we channel energy toward a powerful result. Picture your goal with excitement and gratitude. Whether it’s finding a fulfilling job, building stronger connections, or improving health, visualize it as if it’s already real.

Step 2: Be Specific

Clarity is everything. Vague intentions—like "I want to be healthier"—leave too much room for interpretation. Instead, set measurable intentions like "I will move my body every day for 30 minutes" or "I will earn a $5,000 raise by year’s end." Write down your intentions and revisit them daily. The universe responds to specifics, so the clearer you are, the better it can align with your goals. Also remember you can change your intention at anytime.

Step 3: Release the Ego

The ego can limit us by creating an attachment to outcomes and a need for control. Letting go of ego-based fears and doubts connects us with our true selves. Notice when your ego creeps in, and practice releasing the need for validation or control. This opens you up to a natural flow of intention.

Step 4: Embrace an Abundant Mindset

An abundant mindset is about believing there’s enough for everyone, including you. Gratitude can help build this mindset. Focus on what you already have rather than what you lack, and abundance will be drawn to you. When you work from a place of love and desire, rather than fear, you’re open to receiving opportunities.

Step 5: Take Aligned Action

Intentions are powerful, but they need action to become real. Each day, ask yourself, “What can I do today to move closer to my goal?” Whether it’s five minutes of meditation to feel grounded or regular check-ins with your boss to build toward a raise, small steps build momentum. Align your actions with your intentions, and watch them grow.

Step 6: Trust and Let Go

Trust that the universe has heard you once you’ve set your intentions and taken aligned actions. Things may not unfold exactly as you expect, but often, they bring what you need in ways you couldn’t predict. Release the need to control every detail and trust the process. This openness lets you receive what’s meant for you.

Step 7: Practice Gratitude

Gratitude is essential to intention—it amplifies your energy and nurtures patience. Notice the small changes, opportunities, and “coincidences” along the way. These are signs that the universe is working with you. Be grateful for every shift and unexpected alignment that brings you closer to your goals. It’s the universe’s way of saying, "I heard you."
