Why Fall Is the Best Time for a Reset
Here’s how I help my body (and my clients) cleanse without extremes.
I can’t believe it’s almost the end of September—and technically, summer is over. For me, it was the usual busy couple of months. I spent as much time as I could at my family’s beach house, soaking up the sun and spending time with my loved ones. I couldn’t have asked for a better summer.
I love this season because, in general, everyone is more relaxed. Work slows down, the long sunny days boost our moods, and vacations are more common. You can really feel the shift in the people around you—it’s the “let’s be outside and have some fun” time of year. It’s also the season of rosé all day and indulgence, whether we’re on vacation or surrounded by friends and family.
But then, at the end of September, reality hits. School starts, the clocks change, the days feel shorter, the holiday season approaches quickly, and we’re met with a full return to “real life.” During this transition, I often hear my clients say they feel like they need to detox—or that they need a reset.
So let’s talk about what actually works and what doesn’t.
Like everything else in life, there’s no true shortcut. Quick fixes like juice-only cleanses don’t work. They put your body into starvation mode and deprive it of the nutrients it needs to maintain homeostasis (balance). And the kicker? Once the cleanse is over, your body often rebounds by storing more visceral (belly) fat.
Instead, when my clients tell me they want a reset, I ask them questions like:
“How’s your sleep been?”
“What foods have you been eating regularly?”
“Are you staying hydrated?”
“How has your stress been?”
“What are you doing to take care of yourself?”
Because here’s the truth: your body doesn’t need punishment—it needs support.
Things that actually help your body reset:
Hydration: Aim for plenty of clean, filtered water throughout the day. Add a squeeze of lemon to support your liver.
Nourishing, non-processed foods: Think whole foods—fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats, and high-fiber grains.
Consistent sleep: Go to bed and wake up at similar times to give your liver time to detox overnight.
Stress reduction: Journaling, meditation, movement, and breathwork are all powerful ways to regulate your nervous system.
Gentle movement: Walking, yoga, or stretching helps your body eliminate toxins through sweat and lymphatic flow.
At the end of the day, a reset isn’t about punishing yourself for the summer fun you had—it’s about honoring what your body is asking for now.
Your liver and body are working for you every single day. When you give it the right support—through rest, nourishment, hydration, and stress care—you’re not just detoxing, you’re rebuilding energy, clarity, and balance.
And here’s the truth: it doesn’t have to be perfect. The 80/20 rule is one of my favorite ways to approach health. If you’re making nourishing choices 80% of the time, your body has the resilience to handle the 20% that might be less than ideal. That means you can enjoy the glass of wine, the dessert, or the night out without guilt—because your foundation is strong.
That’s exactly what the 28-Day Fall Seasonal Reset: Guided Liver Detox Program was created for. A gentle, 28-day program to help you feel lighter, clearer, and fully supported before the holiday season begins.
Imagine walking into Thanksgiving not sluggish or stressed, but refreshed, energized, and proud of how you’ve cared for yourself this fall.
